Economics and Management
A Wells student majoring in economics and management is introduced to the fundamental mechanisms of how an economy works. Individual and business decision-making is presented in a domestic and international context. The student may focus studies on either economics or management, although the two concentrations share some common course work. Students who choose either concentration may, if they wish, emphasize quantitative methods by taking a minor in mathematics or computer science.

The total number of courses required for the major is 15-17 (44-52 semester hours). At least seven of these courses must be at the 300-level or above.

CONCENTRATIONS

Economics: Understanding the structure and function of economic systems
allows for intelligent assessment for their strengths and weaknesses. Utilizing
theoretical and functional approaches, students begin to understand the problems
and policies for each.

Management: Being an effective and appropriate manager takes more than
intuition. Students will learn concepts and techniques needed to make
appropriate administrative decisions and the economic and organizational
contexts in which management decisions are made.
