Psychology
The mission of the Wells College psychology major is to provide a solid foundation in the discipline and to help students apply their knowledge of the field toward achieving a sustainable future and just world.  The major aims to develop critical analysis, sound reasoning, effective oral and written communication, and methodological skills in its students.  The overarching goal of the major is to help prepare students for global citizenship and contribution through appreciation of the diversity of human experience, participation in service and/or experiential learning opportunities, and cultivation of a sense of responsibility for making a positive impact on the world through their understanding of self and others.

The psychology major at Wells College prides itself on its range of courses in the areas of counseling and clinical, cognitive, biological, social, and developmental psychology.  The total number of courses required for the major is 14 (43-45 semester hours).  At least six of the courses taken for the major must be at the 300-level or above.  No more than one internship may be taken to meet the requirements for the major.  Taking at least one research methods course (PSY 360L, PSY 365L) before the end of the junior year is strongly recommended.
