Alumnae Council 1998 took place on campus during Fall Weekend and the
Legacy Open House. The campus was full of excitement and activity,
with nearly 70 Council representatives from around the country, over
50 prospective students with their parents and alumnae hostesses, the
student body, and many faculty and staff members taking part in an
exciting weekend schedule of events. Alumnae Council delegates
enjoyed receiving a campus update from President Ryerson, Dean Susan
Ryan and Director of Admissions Susan Raith Sloan '86 as well as
learning about the Book Arts Center and about campus technology
initiatives from faculty members. Training sessions filled the
afternoon until the group enjoyed dinner with the prospective
students and their parents.
Both Henry's VIII and Whirligigs performed during dinner. A highlight
for many alumnae was the annual Odd-Even game. This year the Odd-Line
won both the game and the Song Contest in a reversal of last year's
results. The alumnae performed as part of the half-time
entertainment. Extensive plans for the 125th anniversary celebration
of the Alumnae Association in 1999 were developed. An
intergenerational conversation including Wells women of all ages took
place Sunday morning. All alumnae volunteers were welcomed to attend
Alumnae Council 1999, scheduled for Friday, September 17 through
Sunday, September 19.
