The Louis Jefferson Long Library is named for Wells College's 11th president, and was completed in 1968.  It also houses the Learning Commons, Education Curriculum Center, Writing Center, a computer lab and printer room, offices for learning support services, a walk-through art gallery, and the Commons Café.  There is wireless connectivity throughout the building as well as an open-stack system and individual study carrels.

The library has a collection of over 218,000 volumes and subscribes to 325 print journals and 10 print newspapers.  Collection strengths are in the areas of art, history, literature, local history, philosophy, and women's studies.

The Voyager online library catalog is provided as part of the library's integrated library system.  This catalog is available both in the library and from any remote site.  Students, faculty and staff can access their personal library records from the library online catalog and have a personal inventory of borrowed materials.

Long Library provides access to numerous electronic resources.  Many of our databases provide full-text access to thousands of journal articles.  Some of the more well known databases are EBSCOhost Research Databases; FirstSearch; Grove Music; JSTOR; LexisNexis Academic; ProQuest; and PsycInfo.  Database training is available as part of the library's bibliographic instruction program and by individual appointment.

Additionally, coordinated resource sharing via a computerized interlibrary loan network is available to all members of Wells College.

The Wells College Archives is also housed in the library.
