Note: The specific return van schedule for pickup from Ithacawill be posted shortly. Additional specific trips (to the Syracuse mall, movie theatres, Cornell sporting events, etc) will also be scheduled by Campus Involvement and posted on the Globe for students to sign up.  Groups of students who want to schedule a van for a particular destination should contact Mehegan Murphy (transportation@wells.edu) or Becca Cooper (campusinvolvement@wells.edu) with suggestions. Students who are registered for a class at Ithaca College or Cornell should contact Mehegan Murphy at transportation@wells.edu if they need transportation.

The vehicle stops only if someone has reserved a drop-off or pick-up at one of the specified destinations. Depending on variables like road conditions, the number of stops, weather, and mechanical problems, differences in pick-up times may occur. It is recommended that passengers arrive at the stop five minutes before the vehicle is scheduled to arrive. If the vehicle is 15 minutes late beyond the scheduled pick-up time, please contact the Campus Safety Department at 315-364-3229. In an effort to keep the vehicle on schedule and get passengers to their destinations on time, the driver will only wait 2 minutes beyond the scheduled departure time from any location (including Main). There are no turn-arounds once a vehicle is in route.

The Ithaca daily scheduled transportation service is not offered during college breaks.

Reservations
Transportation vehicles have limited seating and reservations are managed on a first come, first served basis.  Students have priority for van service, followed by faculty and staff, then guests.

Reservations must be made at least 2 hours before the scheduled run.  Reservations are made by completing the online reservation form or filling out the form in the Transporation Office. For assistance with the completion of the form, students may stop by the Office of Transportation, Mail Services and Conferences between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Reservation cancellations are also required. Cancellations must be made 15 minutes prior to the scheduled departure. If the cancellation is not called in or emailed to transportation@wells.edu 15 minutes prior to the scheduled departure, it will result in the issuance of a transportation fine of $10 which will be billed to the student’s Bookstore Account. Repeated infractions may result in disciplinary charges in accordance with the Community Handbook.

Fares
The fare for the Ithaca daily transportation service is $2.00 each way. Cash is not accepted at the time of the ride. Anyone riding the van must purchase a $10 pass ( for 5 rides) or a $20 pass (for 14 rides) at the Office of Transportation, Mail Services and Conferences (Main Building). There are no IOU’s.  Passes must be purchased ahead of time in order to ensure your spot on the van. If a student arrives to the van without a pass, you must give your name and student ID number to the driver. Your bookstore account will be charged for the type of pass you'd like to purchase.  Students are only allowed to charge a pass one time to their account.  All other passes must be purchased from the Transportation Office in Main building.  If you  have questions about this policy, please contact Mehegan Murphy, mmurphy@wells.edu, Transportation, Mail and Conference Services Coordinator.

Guest Policy
Guests of the Wells community are permitted to utilize the transportation shuttle service providing they have a Wells Escort accompany them. The guest’s name along with their escort’s name must be included on the reservation form. Guests will not be permitted on the College vehicles unless accompanied by an escort.

Cancellation of Daily Runs
The safety of our community is our first priority. For this reason, during the winter months, hazardous road conditions could cause a severe delay or cancellation of a regularly scheduled transportation shuttle. The decision to cancel a transportation shuttle will only be made by the transportation coordinator or the director of campus safety. Should a cancellation occur, the following guidelines will apply:
• A campus wide email will be sent to inform the community of the cancellation
• At no time will an individual be “stranded” due to a cancelled transportation shuttle. If you need assistance due to a cancelled transportation shuttle, please contact the 24-hour Campus Safety Department at 315-364-3229.
